Fairy Houses

We went to the Fairy Houses in Portsmouth on Sunday and had a lovely time.  Phoebe dressed up in her brand new Tinkerbell costume and seeing some of the little fairy houses was magical. This is the only picture I can get on the blog because of a camera snafu but you get the idea.  So much fun!

Pumpkins Dropping From the Sky...

Yup, we just made it to the Annual Sanford Pumpkin Drop in Sanford, Maine.  Elliot and I were running from the car to the sound of WWI airplane engines and we just made it to see the airplanes fly over the lake.  They were attempting to drop pumpkins at a target but were only mildly successful.  Imagine trying to open a window in a airplane and judge when to release a pumpkin 100 feet below you?  Why did we use airplanes in WWI anyway?  However, neither Elliot or I cared particularly if those pumpkins hit the target.  It was a rush to see the airplanes and the pumpkins made such a cheerful splash when they hit the water.  Really, what fantastically great entertainment.

The two biggest fans.

Really, fantastic entertainment.  Tomorrow- fairy houses in Portsmouth, NH.

And Fall starts....

Today we have our first day of soccer!

Then Elliot and I are going to watch people drop pumpkins from old-fashioned airplanes onto targets.  It's the absolutely the most fun in the world and if you are in the Sandford, Maine area the planes have lift off at noon.  You gotta go.

And tomorrow,  we're going to see Fairy Houses in Portsmouth, NH.  Also, a magical, wonderful, fun time had by every member of my family.  It's a busy weekend around here.  So, here we go!

Lovin' the layouts

I hit a sudden spurt of energy at the end of summer which coincidentially corresponded with the weather cooling down (coincidence?  I think not.).  I've been sewing, doing lots of layouts, and feeling much more productive lately.  Isn't fall always like that?  I do more in fall and then in the holidays that I do in any other part of the year.  Here are some of the layouts that I worked on this weekend.  Part of my energy spurt had to do with the fact that I decided to go back to all the unfinished layouts and class projects and kits and finally finish them.  This doubled my scrapbooking speed.  So, some of these layouts are from Heartstring kits and CKC classes.  I normally prefer to do my own designs but sometimes I find myself more creative jumping off someone else's design.

And yes, those are my shoes in the pictures.  For some reason even though I edited the pictures, I can't seem to figure out where I put those edited pictures.  So, here they are in their raw form.  And yes, they are in plastic sleeves because Phoebe kept knocking them over and I was afraid that she would love them into pieces.  She has a habit of that. She is in that dumping, messy, choas stage that makes me afraid for delicate pieces of paper held together by double stick tape and not super glue...

Here is a moment from our week that I would like to remember and hold on to.  Just a moment, no words necessary.  Feel free to play along.

Class Prize

With the beginning of school, we've been doing lots of get-to-know-you games in class.  I decided that this year, I would make the "award" more of a thing.  Here is what I came up with:
Cute, huh?  I used some momenta paper that was just SO pretty.  Inside the pretty paper is Sourpatch Kids- a universal teenage favorite.

Handmade Birthday

So, Miss Phoebe celebrated her 3rd birthday on Friday night.  I've been the official family cake maker for the past five years but I sorta gave up on Friday.  Mostly because Phe was feeling a little under the weather and had to stay at home with me on Friday.  So, I ended up breaking down and buying her a lovely Disney princess cake which she liked.  There is always next year.  All of our gifts to the princess were handmade so we lost the fight on the cake, but did well on the gifts.
The Disney princess cake.  She carried around the light up Cinderella for the rest of the night.  The cheapest gift was the most popular. Ironic!

The hand-knitted dolly outfit that Jan knitted  for Phoebe's dolly.

A bed for dolly complete with a blue poka dotted mattress, a pillow, and a dolly quilt.  It's fit for a dolly princess!

This is my proudest moment.  Phoebe had one of those dolly strollers but the seat part had totally fallen apart.  Phoebe had tried everything to get her dollies into the stroller.  I took the broken frayed seat and used it as a template for a new one.  I used a pre-quilted fabric which made it nice and sturdy.  So, we continued with our homemade gifting!  Yay!
